Beverly Hills Employment Lawyer

Reviewed by Eliot J. Rushovich, Managing Partner, Rise Law Firm, PC. Last updated October 2026.

Rise Law Firm is an employment law firm based in Beverly Hills, at 8383 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 800. From this office we represent employees in Beverly Hills, on the Westside and throughout California who were fired, harassed, discriminated against or retaliated against at work. We represent employees only, never employers.

Our partners began their careers at national law firms. Eliot J. Rushovich practiced at O’Melveny & Myers LLP, and Lisa Watanabe-Peagler spent years representing employers in employment litigation, including in the Labor and Employment practice at Epstein Becker & Green. That experience helps us anticipate how companies and their lawyers will defend a case, and we use it to build our clients’ cases from the start.

Cases we handle for Beverly Hills and Westside employees

We focus on employees who have been fired or let go for unlawful reasons, and on the discrimination, harassment and retaliation that often come before a termination. Our cases include:

These are the most common types of cases we handle, and this list is not exhaustive.

Westside employers and what we see

Beverly Hills and the surrounding Westside, including Century City, West Hollywood, Westwood, Brentwood, Bel Air, Santa Monica, Culver City, Pacific Palisades and Marina del Rey, have a concentration of employers that rarely appears elsewhere in one place. We represent employees in industries including:

  • Technology companies and startups, where compensation often includes stock options, restricted stock units or other equity.
  • Financial services, wealth management and real estate, where compensation often includes commissions, bonuses or equity.
  • Entertainment and media companies, including studios, production companies, and talent and management agencies.
  • Luxury retail, hospitality and restaurants, including hotels, restaurant groups and fashion and jewelry retailers.
  • Healthcare providers, including hospitals, medical groups and private practices.
  • Public employers, including cities, school districts and county and state agencies.

This is a sample of the industries we see, not a complete list.

Some issues come up more often for Westside employees:

  • Compensation beyond salary. Bonuses, commissions, carried interest and equity awards that were forfeited at termination can be a significant part of an employee’s losses when the termination was unlawful. Read more in our article on how much a wrongful termination case is worth in California.
  • High-profile employers. Employees of well-known companies often worry that a claim will become public or that they will be blacklisted. We are particularly well known for handling high-profile cases, and we discuss confidentiality and strategy with clients from the first consultation.
  • Public employers. Claims against a city, school district or other public agency often require a government claim within six months for claims outside FEHA, and public entities are not liable for punitive damages (Gov. Code § 818).

Communities we serve

We represent employees who live or work in Beverly Hills and across the Westside and greater Los Angeles, including Bel Air, Beverly Crest, Beverly Grove, Beverlywood, Brentwood, Carthay, Century City, Cheviot Hills, Culver City, Del Rey, Encino, Fairfax, Hancock Park, Hollywood, Holmby Hills, Larchmont, Los Feliz, Malibu, Mar Vista, Marina del Rey, Mid-City, Mid-Wilshire, Miracle Mile, Pacific Palisades, Palms, Pico-Robertson, Playa del Rey, Playa Vista, Rancho Park, Santa Monica, Sawtelle, Sherman Oaks, Silver Lake, Studio City, Topanga, Venice, West Adams, West Hollywood, West Los Angeles, Westchester and Westwood. This list is not exhaustive, and we represent employees throughout California.

Deadlines

The main deadlines are below. They can be shorter or longer depending on the facts, so it is best not to wait.

Claim Deadline
FEHA discrimination, harassment, retaliation File a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department within 3 years; then file suit within 1 year of the right-to-sue notice
Federal Title VII and ADEA File with the EEOC within 300 days (the deadline for California employees)
Wrongful termination in violation of public policy 2 years
Whistleblower retaliation (Lab. Code § 1102.5) Generally 3 years
Public employers Non-FEHA claims generally require a government claim within 6 months

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a lawyer in Beverly Hills, or can any California employment lawyer handle my case?

California employment law is the same throughout the state, and we represent employees throughout California. Most of our communication with clients is by phone, so you do not need to live near our office to work with us. Cases arising on the Westside are generally filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

I was fired just before my bonus or equity vested. Can I recover it?

It depends on the terms of the bonus or equity plan and on the reason for the termination. An at-will employee can generally be let go before a bonus is earned or an equity award vests. If you were fired for an unlawful reason, however, such as discrimination or retaliation, the bonus or equity you would have received can be part of your damages.

Will my case be public?

A lawsuit filed in court is generally a public record, but many cases resolve before trial, and some are resolved before a lawsuit is filed. If you signed an arbitration agreement, the arbitration process is typically not public. We discuss confidentiality, and how it fits your goals, with every client.
